The Synod of Diamper convoked by the Archbishop Menezes of Goa in the year 1599 marked a turning point in the history of the Thomas Christians in India. One of the main goals of the Synod was to bring the Thomas Christians under the Portuguese padroado jurisdiction. The doctoral dissertation is a reference book for the study of Ancient Canons and a help for the Canon Law researchers of the Syro-Malabar Church.
