In this book the author compares the mystical paths as seen in St. John of the Cross
and the Bhagavad Gita. The book has three parts. In the first part author discusses in
three chapters the concept of detachment as evidenced by the life and work of St. John of
the Cross. In the second part focus is on the Bhagavad Gita.
The concept of detachment is hermeneutically explored and the author explains the
role of detachment in Karma, jnana and Bhakti yogas and teaches us about the various
aspects of detachment from moral, social, mystical and theological angles.
In the third and final part he deals with the dialogical perspective and concludes by
saying John of the Cross challenges Catholics to understand the process of exploring
God in other religious persuasions and cultural contexts.
