Kerala is a land which experienced the development of Christianity right from the first
century. Identity of a number of Christian denominations in Kerala is inscribed with the
apostolate of St. Thomas. Persian migrations enhanced the Church with Syrian liturgical
traditions, biblical hermeneutics and theological expositions. Influence of the Roman
Catholic Church through the Synod of Diamper in 1599, provided a different orientation
in faith and practices of the Church....
This work - An Outline History of Churches in Kerala, a humble effort by Prof. C. A.
Augustine is an attempt to provide a birds-eye view of different Church denominations in
Kerala.
